Welcome to Golosi Di Gelato

Via Dante Alighieri, 18/A, 53027 San Quirico d'Orcia SI, Italy

General Info

Tucked along the charming street of Via Dante Alighieri, visitors wandering through San Quirico d'Orcia often stumble upon a small but memorable ice cream stop: Golosi Di Gelato. It’s the kind of place that feels welcoming the moment you approach the counter-simple, casual, and perfect for a quick break while exploring the historic surroundings.

As an ice cream shop, the focus here is refreshingly straightforward: great gelato served quickly and without fuss. The menu may be compact, but the flavors stand out. One highlight that consistently draws attention is the Gelato Pistacchio E Noci. The blend of pistachio and walnut creates a creamy, nutty combination that feels rich but not overwhelming. Each spoonful delivers a balanced sweetness, making it easy to understand why it’s often mentioned in reviews by visitors who stop by during a walk through town.

Another favorite on the menu is the Frappè. On a warm Tuscan afternoon, it’s exactly what you want-smooth, cold, and satisfying without feeling too heavy. The texture is thick enough to feel indulgent while still refreshing, making it a popular choice for travelers looking for a quick cool-down before continuing their day.

One thing that stands out about Golosi Di Gelato is how convenient the experience feels. The shop offers onsite services for those who want to pause and enjoy their dessert nearby, but it’s just as easy to grab something with the takeout option. Many visitors pop in for a quick visit, especially while strolling along Via Dante Alighieri or exploring the nearby attractions in San Quirico d'Orcia.

The atmosphere stays casual and relaxed, which fits perfectly with the style of the place. There’s no pressure to linger, yet it still feels comfortable enough if you want to take a moment and savor your gelato. Practical touches like credit card payments make the experience even smoother, especially for travelers who prefer not to carry cash.

What really makes Golosi Di Gelato memorable is how naturally it fits into the rhythm of the town. It’s not just another restaurant stop-it’s a small, satisfying moment in the middle of exploring Tuscany. Between the creamy Gelato Pistacchio E Noci, the refreshing Frappè, and the easygoing service, it quickly becomes one of those places visitors are happy they discovered along the way.

“ Absolutely the best gelato in Val d’Orcia! Homemade, creamy, and packed with real flavor. The choice of tastes is fantastic—from classics like pistachio and chocolate to unique seasonal creations. You can really feel the quality and care in every bite. A little gem in the heart of town and the perfect stop on a sunny day. Don’t miss it! ”

“ As someone who has sampled ice cream and gelato across five continents, from the silky gelati of Bologna to the inventive scoops of Melbourne, it’s rare that I find a place that genuinely stops me in my tracks. But Golosi di Gelato did exactly that. This shop doesn’t rely on gimmicks or flashy toppings. Instead, it offers true gelato craftsmanship, using honest, high-quality ingredients, beautifully balanced flavors, and the kind of attention to detail that separates the best from the rest. I had two scoops: Custard Cream and Biscotto Locus, and both were phenomenal. The Custard Cream was a creamy, nostalgic dream, like the heart of a perfect crème pâtissière, but chilled and silky. The Biscotto Locus had just the right crunch from biscuit pieces, with a comforting, warm flavor that felt like childhood in a cone. One detail that really stood out to me was how the gelato was packed all the way down to the bottom of the cone. No empty tip, no air pockets, just rich, smooth gelato from the first bite to the last. That kind of care and consistency is rare and speaks volumes about the pride they take in their work. The staff were warm and genuinely passionate about what they serve. They aren’t just scooping ice cream; they are delivering a crafted experience. Golosi di Gelato isn’t just good, it is destination-worthy. Easily one of the finest gelato shops I have visited worldwide ”

“ We visited this gelato shop during our trip to Quirino d’Orcia and it instantly became one of our top three favorite gelato spots in all of Italy. The person who helped us was incredibly kind, which made the experience even sweeter. And the gelato, truly unforgettable. The kind of flavor you carry with you long after the trip ends. On top of that, it’s located in the middle of a picture-perfect little town straight out of a movie. The last thing we expected was to discover that one of their chocolate ingredients actually comes from our country Venezuela, such a beautiful and surprising connection. A magical place, in every sense. ”

“ Been to many olaces, tried a lot, this is simply the best gelato I've ever had. ”

“ Very fresh gelato - loved the peanut and hazelnut flavours but most of all, their pistachio is one of the best we have had. Their yoghurt is good too. Bought thrice consecutively from the lovely lady just because (of course with pistachio included each time). Cup in pictures are Maxi size (EUR5). Will come back to San Quirico d'Orcia just for this. ”

“ Incredible ice-cream, very creamy and even some lactose-free fruit ice cream available - the chocolate flavours are wonderfully intense. Generally very very tasty. The desserts are as good as they look, well-balanced and not too sweet. All fillings are very nice, including cream cheese and pudding. Small tables are available outside. ”

“ This gelato was absolutely delicious!! It was the perfect sweet treat on a hot day in San Quirico. Our party tried several flavors including milk chocolate, dark chocolate, chocolate chip, strawberry, and raspberry. It was so good that we went back a second time to get a small cup of raspberry, it was mouthwateringly delicious and quenched our thirst. I would highly recommend if you are in San Quirico, it was some of the best gelato we had! ”

“ As good as any gelato anywhere! Freshly made on the premises, daily special/seasonal flavours alongside the classics. By far the best in the area, so good that we often finished dinner in Pienza and drove over to San Quirico to join the queue of locals! ”
